The math

How the number is worked out

The calls you miss in a week, times the share that would have booked, is the jobs you lost that week. Each lost job is worth your average job value, plus the repeat-customer value if you filled it in. That weekly figure times 52 is the year, and the year divided by 12 is the month.

The only numbers in it are the ones you typed. We do not add an industry average, and a rough count of your own is closer to the truth than anyone else's figure.

Questions people ask

How do I know how many calls I miss?

Count them for one normal week in your phone's recent calls list. Calls that went to voicemail count too, unless the caller left a message and you called back and booked them.

What share of missed calls would have booked?

Only you can say. Think of the last ten new-customer calls you did answer and how many turned into a job. That rate is a fair stand-in for the calls you missed.

What is repeat-customer value?

What a new customer usually spends with you after the first job: the next service, the yearly visit, the follow-on work. Leave it at zero if you are not sure, and the result counts only the first job.
